Since time immemorial, the people of India have revered the cow as a symbol of abundance and prosperity. Everything that the cow gives is considered precious and highly medicinal, but unfortunately, many cows are slaughtered when they are past the stage of yielding milk or even in infancy, as male bullocks. At Sri Pothai Kshetram, over 200 cows and bulls are being cared for till the natural end of their lives. They are fed natural pesticide free food and sheltered in airy sheds with great love and attention. The calves are not deprived of their mothers' milk and are equally well nurtured. Regular ‘Go Puja’ is performed as well. Go Samrakshana is a moral obligation that has always been greatly emphasised in the Shastras and Sri Muthukrishna Swami Mission Trust has upheld this Dharma for many decades.
